Flight to the Future through the Recovery of Pollinators

Most crops rely on pollen from the pistil's head to produce seeds and fruit. At this stage, bees play a vital role in pollination and are known as "bee pollinators." Bees are responsible for pollinating around 67% of fruits and vegetables. Crops like strawberries and watermelons rely heavily on bee pollination to bear fruit.

Bee My HIve is a platform that empowers users to help protect the Earth by increasing honeybee populations. Users can enjoy decorating both real and digital beehives while contributing to environmental sustainability.

SET YOUR CUSTOM BEEHIVE

Users can customize their own beehives, choosing the size and shape that best fits their garden. Additionally, they can select flowers to place around the hive and provide snacks that bees favor.

Each button includes descriptions and explanations on how to attract bees. Now, there will be plenty of bees gathering around their hive.

RAISE A PET HONEYBEE AS A GAME

Users can receive data on bee activation rates and information about the bees through an app.

The actual beehive is connected to the app, allowing users to easily check the status of the bees and the hive directly from the app. At the same time, users can receive missions, similar to playing a game, to help increase the bee population.

SHOPPING & SMART BEEHIVE

When it's raining or they are not in the garden, users can easily view their actual beehive using their camera. They can also buy more hives or get repairs through their profile.

Additionally, users have the ability to adjust camera settings and view their purchase history.

The LiDAR scanner automatically scans the added flowers and treats, transforming them into pixel animations. All users need to do is simply point their camera at the real beehive.

How to Increase Honeybees?

Most crops rely on pollen reaching the pistil for successful seed and fruit production. Bees play a crucial role in this process and are called bee pollinators. They are responsible for pollinating about 67 percent of the fruits and vegetables we eat.

Bee My Hive helps users protect the Earth by supporting the growth of the honeybee population, while letting them enjoy decorating their own real and digital beehives.

Music

Bees can hear music, but not in the traditional way because they don't have ears. They sense it through vibrational frequencies. The sweet spot for bees and vibrations is between 250 Hz to 500 Hz.

Food

Bee Bread is a mixture of pollen and honey that is usually fed to larvae destined to become worker bees. Honey is made and stored for consumption by bee colonies during the colder months when fewer flowers are available.

Environment

Because the types of ornamental flowers commonly planted in the yard do not produce enough honey for bees, growing plants such as sugarcane, sunflower, cornflower, beech, or apple trees increases bee production.

We conducted 13 in depth user interviews to identify key needs and challenges from a qualitative perspective.

Innovation Strategy and Conceptualization

Through user conversations, we identified key barriers that prevent individuals from keeping honeybees and designed solutions to help overcome them.

Target Audience

Based on user interviews, we identified five key target groups and developed personas to represent each:

  1. Individuals living in houses with yards

  2. Gardening enthusiasts who enjoy beautifying their outdoor spaces

  3. Pet and plant lovers familiar with pet simulation games

  4. Environmentally conscious users who care about sustainability

  5. Users interested in beekeeping and harvesting their own honey
